Just a bit of fun!

For explanation, that isn't an Oc on the right there, this is based mostly off the Fleetway comics explanation for the origins of Sonic. A long time ago, a friend and myself were playing Genesis or something and talking about why Sonic runs fast. I told her it it was because he had power sneakers (which is what I had read in the manual of the Master System version of the first game). My friend, appalled at my answer, sat me down and explained the whole thing. Sonic, a regular hedgehog with the ability to run really fast, was given sneakers by Dr. Kintober to reduce friction on his feet. This allowed him to break the sound barrier, which had the odd effect of turning him blue. In return, Sonic used his speed to find the Chaos Emeralds for his experiments. Also, Robotnik "Eggman" came about as a reaction to the evil of the chaos emeralds and a rotten egg. Which was somehow Sonics fault.

At the time I was overwhelmed by how cool that explanation was, a proper superhero/villian thing going on. I wish I coulda read those back in the day.

And yeah, a Fleetway Super Sonic there woulda been a lot cooler I guess.
